My name is Mark Strachan and I'm the owner and founder of the company.
Well done on getting to this web page, you've passed the first 'test' in my hiring process!
But .. before we go any further, I have to tell you that this is a position for a qualified portrait photographer. That means someone that has worked in a paid position as a portrait photographer. We need someone with exceptional skills to support our 3 senior photographers, so please - only apply if you can achieve portrait photography of the highest standard.
Okay, right now I'm going to tell you a little bit about the position and what you'll be doing, and then if you're interested in working with us, I'll get you to enter your details in the space provided below and also submit your BEST 6 PORTRAIT images.
Firstly about our business...
One of our 1800's built studios ...
Artist Photographer was established in 1983 and is an industry leader in child, family and celebrity portraits with 100 year old studios in Richmond and Geelong.
Currently we have 3 Photographers and 6 support staff across the 2 studios.
We're growing fast and we're looking for you to help us with giving our clients a wonderful photography experience in our Richmond and/or Geelong studios so we can continue to prosper.
We are a young team that love doing what we do. We've have had a record year in 2011 and we're on track for more growth in 2012.
So we're looking for someone special and with a proven folio of PORTRAIT work to come in and join us in the fun and the work of growing our studios.

Next, your position...
You'll be working at either or both of our beautiful studios in Richmond and Geelong. You will be a reliable, happy, immaculately presented and 'switched on' person who loves working with people and making beautiful images. You also must be able to work on your own, and within a team environment. You'll be responsible for the most significant contact our clients have with our business, so it's an important role, and one that we take seriously.
You'll have a strong portfolio of portrait work, including couples, families and children, we would prefer someone that has worked in this area previously, but would still be happy to meet you if your work and people skills are at the highest level.
This is a casual position which others in the role have found allows them a "full time" salary whilst working only 3 to 4 days a week. Your busiest days will be Thursday, Friday and Saturday - (in future we may even be open on Sundays, but this will be optional).
You will have an allocated on-site car parking space supplied at BOTH studios as well as state of the art equipment and lighting so that you can concentrate on producing beautiful work!

Your hourly pay will be negotiable, based on your skill and level of work.
This is a role that requires you to interact with our clients on a daily basis - so you'll be a 'warm' person and need to be great at creating relationships with people.
And you'll also need the skills to do a great job...
The skills you'll need to have are...
- Leadership - we are after someone that sets themselves high standards and achieves them. This allows them to set an example to the rest of the team.
- Proficient and expert understanding of studio lighting and ambient light portrait photography.
- Good to Excellent Computer Skills
- Ability to use Canon and/or Nikon Digital SLR cameras and lenses. If you have any SLR camera experience, other than Canon or Nikon, we expect that with some time and training - you'll 'find your feet' quickly.
- Confident and safe handling of image files
It's also essential that you have excellent problem solving skills and can prioritize working processes.
